Padmavati Controversy leaves Ajay Devgn worried for Tanaji Malusare Biopic

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming movie Padmavati is in the headlines from the past few months due to protests against the movie and the controversies are only rising with each passing day. Padmavati factor has installed fear in many filmmakers mind who want to make biopics and period-based drama. It’s a well known fact that Superstar Ajay Devgn is gearing up to make a biopic on Tanaji Malusare and he has already shared a first-look poster of the same. But after seeing the violent protests for Padmavati, he is now worried that the film on Tanaji can also face such hurdles later.
“The film Taanaji : The Unsung Warrior is based on the Maratha warrior Taanaji Malusare, who was a superior general and a man of iron will in the army of Chhatrapati Shivaji. Tanaji is most popularly remembered for the Battle of Sinhagad (Pratapgad ealier) in 1670 where he fought against Mughal fort keeper Udaybhan Rathore, a formidable Rajput warrior, until his last breath. The film is being produced by Viacom, which is also producing Padmavati. They now want to ensure that that everything is in order in terms of the script and they are not hurting any sentiments of either the Rajputs or the Marathas, or even the Mughals for that matter,” says a source of DC.
Tanaji film will be helmed by Om Raut, who is known for his critical acclaimed film Lokmanya: Ek Yug Purush. The film’s regular shooting will kick-start from March 2018. The makers are currently busy in the pre-production activities and as per the sources, a special massive set will be made for the film with a whooping budget. Ajay Devgn has stated that Tanaji will be much bigger than the Baahubali franchise. His VFX studio NY VFXWAALA along with some other big studios will take care of the CGI work of the film.
